Friida passed the working ability test

We spent one more hot day in a doggy way - this time in the forest as Friida took part in spaniels working ability test in Nilsiä 27.8. The judge was Jaana Heiskari and 8 spaniels were entered. Four of them passed the test, among them was our Little-Friida! GREAT JOB Friida and Jyrki!



The old chap is back

We spent a very hot day in Haapajärvi group show with Nuusku on 12.8. Judge was Leila Kärkäs and 8 Welshies were entered, all males. Nuusku went all the way to BOB, BOB- and BIS-veteran. BIS-vet judge was Jorma Silta. The grand old man was on a great mood again, especially in the BIS-veteran ring he moved like a young man and showed the best of him.

The day after, on 13.8., was almost as hot as the previous one. We drove to Pyhäselkä group show with Emma & Friida, but all we gained was experience... both girls got VG1. The judge was Hannele Jokisilta, she thought Friida needs more time to develop, which is true. Emma was in her opinion too fat and her rear movement wasn't the best, though otherwise the critique was excellent.

A week earlier (5.8.) Friida also attended Kuopio Int. Show with her co-owner Ulla. Friida was a little tired in the heat and didn't move so well, but Ulla did an excellent job with her and Friida got EXC4 in junior class. Judge was Stelios Makaritis from Greece.



Nuusku's offspring entering showrings with success

While Nuusku has been spending well earned summer holidays, some of his offspring have made their debut in showrings with success:

In Kotka all breed show 30.7. (judge Maudie Burke, Ireland) Viivi aka Dirlian Sweet Surprise (S-B Neptunus - Dirlian Nice Surprise) made her debut in the puppy class and was BOB-puppy! Many congratulations to Viivi, Maarit & Viivi's owners!

In Vesilahti group show 6.8. judge was Marjo Jaakkola. Oiva (age 10 months) alias Standard-Bearer Minotaurus (S-B Neptunus - S-B Urban Legend) was also entered in his very first show and he won BD1, cert & BOB! Many congrats to Oiva, Suvianna and Oiva's owners! What a great b'day present for "granny", too!



Shownews from Ylivieska 1.7.

Nuusku, Friida and I spent a sunny and hot day in Ylivieska all breeds show on 1st July. 13 Welshies were entered and the judge was Dusan Paunovich from Serbia. Nuusku was BD2 & BOB-veteran and Friida BB4. As our ring was over before noon, I decided not to stay for the group finals, as it was really hot. Instead I drove home and took Friida and Emma swimming - much nicer than just waiting and sweating in the sun for hours, wasn't it girls?!

I received some lovely photos of Friida's sister Holly (Eastfarm's Heaven On Earth), as you can see above. From what I heard from Holly's owners, she is very much like her sister, a happy and open Welsh. More photos of Holly will be added in the Photos-page soon. Nuusku is officially an International Ch!

Today (16.6.) the mail brought a long-awaited and welcomed letter from Belgium: FCI has now confirmed that Standard-Bearer Neptunus "Nuusku" is officially an International Champion!

The older the better!

Friida, Nuusku and I spent a lovely day in Haukipudas group show 4.6. Friida won junior class with VG, so unfortunately she didn't yet get her first certificate. Nuusku hit the jackpot and was BOB, BOB-vet, BIG4 and Best In Show-veteran! The breed and veteran judge was Eeva Anttinen, group judge was Marianne Holm-Hansen. It was such a joy to be in the ring with Nuusku, he obviously enjoys all the attention he gets in the ring! Thanks for the photos to my brother Petteri!

Nuusku BOS-veteran in Springer Spaniels Show 28.5.2006

We spent a nice weekend in Karkku, south-western Finland at Springer Spaniels' Speciality Show with good friends. The day was mostly sunny but during the junior class when I was in the ring with Friida it of course rained cats and dogs. Nevertheless, it was a fun day and Nuusku made my day by being BOS-veteran. Friida was sencond in junior class and was only beaten by the beautiful BIS-winner Benton Pearl At Wesper. Nuusku's brother Nevada became BOS and cotinues his big victories. It was also really sweet to see several Nuusku's offspring making their bedute in the showring. The funniest part of the day was definitely the "costume competition" which was won by our friend Seija & Emma's brother Nemo. The photos tell more than thousand words, as you can see!

Lots of doggy birthdays...

Happy birthday to our always so young-at-heart gentleman Nuusku who turns 10 on May 26th! He's been promised lots of goodies & cuddles. Our dear Ruska will turn 7 on June 1st, so congrats to him, too, and many thanks for my parents for taking such good care of the fellow! Little Friida will also turn 1 on June 5th, so many congratulations to her and her family as well!

Muurola group show 22.4.2006

I decided to visit my brother and his wife up north in Rovaniemi and took Friida with me to go to Muurola group show on Saturday. Markku Santamäki was judging and 8 Welshies were entered. Friida got VG, and was 2nd in junior class. The only Welsh getting excellent was Rocbee Kir Royal who competed in the same class with Friida. Friida behaved really well again and was as happy as always. I'm sure for her the best part of the trip was meeting my brother's young German Pointer Sella and playing with her all weekend!


Mikkeli Group Show 25.3.2006

Nuusku, Emma & Friida were entered to Mikkeli group show, where Marjo Jaakkola was judging. 9 Welshies were entered. Nuusku was BD2, BOB-veteran and BIS2-veteran. Emma's result was VG1 and Friida's VG3. BOB was once again Emma's brother Nemo (Standard-Bearer Gladiator). Many congratulations to Nemo, Seija & Jaakko!


Kajaani International Show 6.-7.1.2006

47 Welshies were entered in Kajaani Int. Show and the judge was Roberto Schill from Romania.

Our Friida (Eastfarm's Home To Daddy) made her debute in showrings, was 2nd in puppy class and got HP. She was too curious about everything going around and didn't really want to stand still. I still couldn't be happier with her temperament, she is such a lovely, open and always happy girl. Emma (Standard-Bearer Grace Kelly) didn't have much success, the jugde thought she needs more stop in her head, so she only got "very good" . Nuusku (S-B Neptunus) was in a happy mood like always, he got "excellent" and was BOB-veteran. I also took Nuusku to BIS-veteran ring, where the atmosphere was very nice with music and applause. No further success there, but it was a nice experience anyway.
