Family get-together 3.7.
Friida's sister Holly (Eastfarm's Heaven On Earth) and her owners were on summer holidays here in Eastern Finland and visited us on Tuesday. It was lovely to meet Holly, Minna and Juha again since the last time I saw them was almost two years ago when I had to make the hard decision which one of the girls would travel from Nauvo to Iisalmi with me.
Friida's co-owners hosted this "family-meeting" - thank you Jyrki, Ulla & Eva for all the goodies and the wonderful place by the lake. The weather was great and so was the company! The dogs: sisters Friida & Holly, their father Nuusku and the "divas" Sohvi and Emma had lots of fun playing and running by the lake (sometimes also in the lake...).
Juha is a really talented photographer, as you can see by taking a look at his site. I will add some of his photos here soon, so everyone can feel the atmosphere we had just by looking at these wonderful photos. Thank you everyone for a really nice evening, we'll certainly do this again some time!

Friida BOB in Saarijärvi 30.6.
Friida was entered to Saarijärvi group show on 30th June and the results couldn't have been better: BB1, BOB and cert! The judge was Ms Vera Smirnova from Estonia. Friida behaved really well again and made her granny so proud of her! Thanks to Riina & Brisa for great company during the day. We even enjoyed some culture as we decided to stay and wait for the group rings. We have some hours to explore the sights of Saarijärvi and even to enjoy an open air "summer theatre" during the day. And on the way back home we stopped at a vineyard to buy some Finnish wine to celebrate the great day!
Happy birthdays!
Early summer is always the time of lots of doggy birthdays. So Happy Birthday to 11-year-old Nuusku (26.5.), 8-year-old Ruska (1.6.) and 2-year-old Friida (5.6.)!
Friida in Springer Spaniels Speciality Show
Springer Spaniels Speciality Show 27.5.
In the end of May it was time to attend the annual Springer Spaniels Speciality Show in Karkku again. This is always one of the highlights of the year, a wonderful day with good friends and lots of Welshies around. This year the judge was Mr Stephen Pick (Kennel Llon, England) and 83 Welshies were entered. We had only our young girl Friida with us and she did pretty well in the intermediate class getting EXC and a very nice critique. "Our tent" had a lovely day all together as Nuusku's brother Standard-Bearer Nevada won BOB & even BIS, Malin's junior bitch Eastfarm's Indian Summer was BOS & BIS-junior and Minna's Benton Somebody's Duck was BD2 & BOS-junior. Congrats to all concerned!!
Ulla and I also took part in the fancy dress competition with Friida and Nicole (thanks Suvianna for borrowing her!:)). Our theme was "Dancing with the stars".. or rather dancing withe the dogs. We realised we are just as good at dancing as Friida and Nicole, but we had lots of fun at least! In this tough competition we ended up as 3rd out of about 10 teams, so not bad, huh? A million thanks to my mom for sewing the wonderful dresses for the dogs!

Friida BOS in Suonenjoki 17.5.
Friida was entered in Suonenjoki group show on 17 May, the judge was Hannele Jokisilta and 15 Welshies were entered. The day was very windy, but nevertheless wonderful: our little princess won the bitches and was BOS. It was also Friida's first CC! Friida behaved like an angel in the ring all the way till the BOB/BOS photo, when she no longer wanted to stand still as her "granny" was a bit absentminded beacuse of the success. BOB was always so happy grand old man Aku (Milfeddyg Diaros).
The day was great for the rest of our "gang" as well, as our friend Minna's young Welsh Ossi (Benton Somebody's Duck) was 2nd best dog and won his 2nd CC.
First months of the year
The beginning of 2007 has been somewhat silent in the dog front. We have been to a couple of dog shows without any big success. Nuusku will now retire from the show business and leave it to the younger ones. After all, he will turn 11 years on May 26th. He will now have some well earned pension times at home!
In late March - early April Nuusku spent a culture and sports holiday in Lapland at my brother and his wife's tender care. He had had a wonderful time eating goodies and jogging on the snowy fields. Nuusku had two fast German Pointers Sella and Veeti keeping him company and he even found some game during his visit as you can see in the photo below!
