Friida has been mated to Ruffe 2.1.2008

Friida (Eastfarm's Home To Daddy) has been mated to Ruffe (Llawen Tuff Enuff) in early January and everything went well. Now we are anxiously waiting for puppies to be born during week 10 (in early March). More news and information can be found on "Puppies"-page.

Friida aka Eastfarm's Home To Daddy had her thyroid tests taken in October, T4 & TSH are normal and TgAA negative.

We also have decided the sire for her litter, it will will a young, handsome and happy Ruffe aka Llawen Tuff Enuff. You will find more information about the puppy-plans on the "Puppies"-page!

Autumn news

Summer went by quickly and it's autumn again. Friida was shown at Oulu int. show on 7th October, she got excellent1 in working class.

Emma has started a new active life with agility and obedience. As both Emma and I were gaining more motivation, we had over a year off from agility but are back on track again. It's been great fun for both of us and Emma is more motivated than ever!

I still haven't been bitten by the obedience bug, but Heli, a 12-year-old girl nextdoor has. Since she doesn't have a dog of her own, she asked if she could go with Emma. Of course I was more than happy to borrow Emma for her - it's great that someone teaches Emma some manners as her owner is too lazy for that!

Nuusku is spending well-earned pension time and is the same happy fellow as always. Ruska turned 8 some months ago and is also now in the senior league, which is hard to believe. He's just so energetic and that's great, of course!

Finally on summer holidays!

We have had a lovely and busy time during the last three weeks since the summer holidays finally started. To start with, we took Friida to Kuopio all breed show on 5th August, on a hot and sunny day. The judge for Welshies was Mrs Rita Reyniers from Belgium. Friida ended up as BB2 with another res-cc. Well done for the little girl even if the last cc was so close!

On the weekend after that, 11.-12.8., I was busy working at the local Spaniel Club's working ability test - a really nice day once again, thanks to all participants who were on a great mood! On the Sunday it was time for the "water test", which is part of the hunting test for spaniels. Friida took part as well, but unfortunately got no points at all even if she swam and seeked for the bird with enthusiasm. She thinks the "water birds", ducks and such, smell worse than those not living in the water. Well, we'll need to practise more, since we've done very little of it so far.

And still no rest for the girl as co-owner Ulla had entered Friida to her first game tracking trial on 19.8. Unfortunately this time it was windy and Friida was using her nose up in the air, and also found some more interesting smells than the blood track, so no result there either. Still, it's great that Ulla is so keen on all the dog hobbies and takes Friida to different ones, thank you Ulla for being so active!

After the weekend Friida also visited her "granny" and seemed to have a nice short holiday with the other red-and-white-ones. We even went to search for ducks on Monday 20.8. as it was the first day you can hunt them in Finland, but the birds had flown somewhere else... But as the photos below show, Friida had a nice stay with us anyway!

Working and showing

In the end of July my friend Minna and I decided to go on a dog show trip to Pello, 500 km one way isn't a long drive once you've been bitten by the show bug, right? I also invited myself to visit my brother and his wife in Rovaniemi the same weekend, so that we could have some bird fetching training with Friida. As the photos show, it went well, thanks to my brother Petteri.

In Pello all breed show Moa Persson from Sweden was judging and Friida got a res-CC and BB4 placement. Ossi-boy (Benton Somebody's Duck) got CC n. 5 and was BOS, congrats!
