NEWS 2009

MH mental test and another show

Ulla took Friida to an MH mental test on 8.8. and the experience had been very interesting and good. It was a shame I couldn’t be there to watch. Friida had taken things calmly like she tends to do and the judges had said she is a social and stable dog without any sign of aggression.

The day after, 9.8., we went to Suonenjoki group show with my friend Suska, her lovely cocker Alma and our Friida. Also Friida’s son Osku and his family came along. The judge was Mr Martin Johansson from Sweden and Friida was BB2, Osku got VG1. A nice, but really hot day!

Great show day in Iisalmi 2.8.

We had a lovely day in our home town International Dog Show yesterday with Friida (FI Ch Eastfarm’s Home To Daddy). Friida was BB1 and BOS with CACIB! Judge was Mr Blaz Kavcic from Slovenia. The day was even nicer because our dear friend Pirre and her Welsh boy Ruffe (Llawen Tuff Enuff) got BOB. Ruffe is the father of Friida’s A-litter. Many thanks to good friends for a very nice day and weekend!

Summer news

This summer we don’t have too many news in the dog front but some anyway. We attended Springerspaniels’ Speciality Show in June with Friida (Eastfarm’s Home To Daddy) and her son Osku (Eirian Antaios). Both got VG, judge was Ms Jan Janes. The day was very nice never-the-less. It’s always great fun meeting good friends in Karkku and this year we had lovely weather, too.

In the end of June we travelled to Northern Sweden with Friida to attend a dog show there. The judge was Patric Ragnarsson and Friida was BB4. A nice result considering she was not on her best show mood maybe due to very hot weather and a long drive. A week later she got VG in Kokkola Int Show.

Daughter Manta (Eirian Atalante) took part in spaniels’ ability test in June. The other parts of the test went well, but this time she didn’t want to go swimming. She’s been like a fish in the sea last summer and later this summer as well, so probably she was just a bit rusty after the long winter. A new try later this summer and I’m sure she’ll do fine!

We also had the pleasure of meeting Roki (Eirian Arctic Sun) last weekend, which was a lot of fun, as we hadn’t seen him since he left us at the age of 8 weeks. Roki is very much like his brothers, a lively, happy young Welsh!

Emma and I will be back on agility tracks this week after a couple of weeks of summer break. The veterans Nuusku and Ruska are also still going strong, all though I must admit their steps are maybe getting a bit slower, especially Grandpa Nuusku’s.

Spring news

This spring has gone by quickly with all sorts of dog events and happenings. Most of my spring was filled with my brother's German Pointer Sella's pups that arrived 19.3. It was a lot of fun watching them grow up in the puppy room, what a wild & funny gang! Luckily one of them was kept by my brother and his wife, so I now I'm an aunty to a lovely little Martta.

We have also been to some shows with Friida and some of her offspring. None of them has had big success, but good results anyway. Friida's children seem a lot like their mom and grandpa; they need time to develope, but what's the hurry anyway!

Friida and Ulla also went to a game tracking trial with great results; 1st prize in open class! Very well done girls, you are a great couple! I'm so proud of you!

We've also had a bunch of doggy birthdays as Nuusku turned 13 on 26.5. and Ruska hit the magic 10 on 1.6. Also Friida had her birthday on 5.6.

"I'm going to eat it now!", Nuusku seems to think.

A great show day 8.3.

We had a lovely day at Kuopio group show 8.3. Friida (Eastfarm's Home To Dady) and her sons Osku (Eirian Antaios) and Reetu (Eirian Alaskan Fall) were entered. 19 wss competed and the judge was Mrs Eeva Anttinen. The juniors did really well as Osku was EXC1 and Reetu EXC2, and in Best Dog class Osku ended up as BD4 with a res-cc, Reetu being the 5th one.

Congrats to the juniors and their families and thank you for bringing the boys there!

If the boys did well, then mommy Friida hit the jackpot being BB1 and BOB! Huge congrats to Ulla and the rest of the Kauppinen's!

Little-sister Manta (Eirian Atalante) was at Valkeala group show 7.3. and got VG2 in junior class under Mrs Leila Kärkäs. Very well done for Manta, too, she's very much like her mom, needs a bit more time to fullfill her maturity.

How the time flies!

It's hard to believe it's been a year since Friida's puppies were born. Happy birthday on 5th March to A-litter pups: Manta, Nala, Reetu, Osku, Robi, Paavo and Roki! Thank you all puppy owners for the past year and taking such good care of the puppies!

We will soon have puppy smell again in the puppy room, this time it's just "a wrong breed" as my brother's German Pointer Sella will have pups. More information on Sella's puppies (in Finnish) here.

New year and new tricks

First of all I'd like to wish all friends a happy, healthy and successfull year 2009!

Our new year has had a busy start in the show front. We first attended Ilomantsi group show 6.1. with Eirian Antaios "Osku", who had just turned 10 months and entered the junior class for the first time. The judge was Mrs Elena Ruskovaara and Osku's result was VG1. Osku was so interested in the other dogs and all the smells that he simply forgot how to move like a dog - he thought he was a kangaroo, camel or a bird! Well, with more training we'll do better one day!

A couple of days later (11.1.) it was time for the annual Kajani International show where Osku and Friida (Eastfarm's Home To Daddy) were entered. Osku did a bit better with his movements this time and got EXC2 and also ended in the final 6 in the Best Dog class.

Friida was on a happy show mood and was BB4, not bad at all!

Later on we went to see Osku's brother Paavo (Eirian Ayers Rock) and the boys had a blast playing together!

Earlier this winter we also saw little sister Nala (Eirian Amaranth), who is a young lady now and not a small little girl anymore!

Now we'll have a winter break from shows and will be back again in March... Also back to agility with Emma by then!
